L G B T Q + Gay Surrogacy Options

At GENNET City Fertility we have a surrogacy programme dedicated to helping same-sex male couples, or nonbinary or transgender patients who were assigned male at birth, to form the families that they have always wanted. We understand that this process can be complex, lengthy, and may also be extremely emotional at times, but our experienced team is on hand to help and support you every step of the way.

Our Surrogacy Programme

In proud partnership with TwoDads UK and My Surrogacy Journey, we can offer you a programme that will allow you and your partner (if you are taking this next step on your journey to parenthood with a partner) to have a baby of your own. In most cases, this will mean carrying out an IVF treatment cycle using sperm cells from one or both partners to fertilise a donated egg. This egg will then be implanted into the womb of your surrogate, in the hopes of a viable pregnancy and birth of a child. This is also known as full surrogacy, Host surrogacy, or Gestational surrogacy.

Full Surrogacy

This will involve the implantation of an embryo into a chosen surrogate’s womb via a cycle of IVF. One, or even both of you, will provide sperm cells to create embryos with an egg donor; these sperm cells will be mixed with donated eggs in a laboratory and carefully monitored for signs of development before being implanted as part of the procedure.

Will We Both Be the Legal Parents of Our Child?

If your chosen surrogate is single, they can nominate the non-biological father to be the second parent. The surrogate will be considered the legal parent at birth. From the age of 6 weeks onwards, you can apply for a Parental Order to become the full legal parents of your child.

If your surrogate is married or in a civil partnership, then their spouse or partner will be considered the second legal parent at birth. Both you and your partner can apply for a Parental Order to become the legal parents of your baby from 6 weeks after their birth.

Our legal team will be there to advise and support you through this process and can point you in the direction of further help and support with your legal parenthood rights. Stonewall UK has a Guide for Gay Dads that you may find helpful

Couples’ Initial Consultation Package (Fertility Assessment)

To help you find out more about your fertility before you begin your journey to parenthood, we can offer you and your partner a Couples’ Initial Consultation Package. This cost-effective package assessment is designed to offer a saving of £120 and can be completed in two simple steps when offered to gay couples:

First step

Both partners will be invited to attend our clinic for Semen Assessments. These will measure your and your partner’s sperm count, motility (the ability of the sperm to move), and morphology (the sperm’s shape).

Second step

When the results are ready, you will both be invited to spend some time in consultation with an experienced Fertility Specialist. They will review your fertility and medical history, taking into account any conditions, and discuss the results of the Semen Assessment with you. During this time, they may also offer advice and suggestions on lifestyle changes, which may have an impact on your fertility potential.

Our Comprehensive Male Fertility Clinic

If you would like some results and advice in a shorter amount of time, we can also offer you a time slot in our Comprehensive Male Fertility Clinic. This straightforward session is run weekly by our Head Andrologist and Urologist, Mr Amr Raheem, and provides all the tests, results, and advice you need in 45 to 60 minutes.

Mr Raheem will examine you or your partner (where applicable), review the results of the semen analysis conducted before your first appointment, and carry out all the required scans. From the results provided, he can then offer you advice that may improve your overall fertility potential, as well as options for treatment if this is necessary.

A Comprehensive Male Fertility Clinic package, which includes an Examination and/or a Scrotal Scan and Consultation with a Urologist and Andrologist will cost £290.
