L G B T Q + Fertility Care for Nonbinary and Transgender Patients

At GENNET City Fertility we are proud to run a large fertility preservation programme, meaning that we can support you with your plans for having a family in the future. We also know that you might be in the process of transitioning and have several different decisions currently on your mind. No matter what you decide to do for your future and the future of your fertility, our team will be on hand to ensure that it is done easily and comfortably.

Fertility Preservation for Transgender Women

In our facilities, we can cryopreserve and store your sperm for up to 55 years, meaning you will have the option to have a family for many years after you have transitioned. There will be several routes to parenthood available after this, from IVF with a partner to Host surrogacy as a single woman. There will be no need to worry about the treatment you decide upon, though; our team will work with you to find the one that best suits your needs and comfort.

Fertility Assessment for Transgender Women

Before starting treatment, you may wish to consider getting a Fertility Assessment. This will be a measure of your sperm count, motility (their ability to move), and morphology (their shape). These results will then be explained in consultation by one of our fertility specialists, who may also be able to offer advice on lifestyle changes that could increase your fertility potential.

Fertility Preservation for Transgender Men

We are able to collect, preserve, and store your eggs for up to 55 years, so you will have the option of forming your own family for many years once you have transitioned. There will be several options for this available to you as well, from having your eggs fertilised using donor sperm and a female partner carrying the pregnancy, to completing Host surrogacy as a single man. There is no need to be concerned about the treatment you decide upon, however, as our team will work with you to find the one that suits your needs and comforts best.

Fertility Assessment for Transgender Men

Before beginning treatment and starting your journey to parenthood, you might first think about getting a Fertility Assessment. This will be made up of an Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) test and a Fertility Scan with an Antral Follicle Count, both of which help to indicate your ovarian reserve and your overall fertility potential. The results of these will then be explained to you in consultation with one of our fertility specialists, who will also be able to provide you with advice and suggestions on lifestyle changes that may increase your fertility potential.

Is Fertility Preservation for Me?

We understand that it can be difficult to think about whether or not you want to become a parent in the future and have a biological link to any child you have – especially when you have so many other things to think about before you transition. But, by choosing to freeze your eggs or sperm with us, you will be saving yourself a difficult question for another day, when it may be easier to answer. You will be able to ensure that the option of having a baby as you want is still available to you if you should decide that this is what you want in the future.

Trans Parenting

We also understand that, once you have transitioned and feel ready to use your cryopreserved eggs or sperm, the treatment options available can seem overwhelming. This is why our team will be prepared to guide you through all of your options, explaining the parts that might otherwise seem complex and supporting you on the way to forming your family.

We have listed just a few of the options that will be available to you below:

Alternative Routes to Parenthood

Family is for everyone, and everyone should be allowed to choose the way they want to form their own families. This is why, if you decide that fertility preservation and treatment is not for you, we can also support you with finding information, advice, and other resources on Adoption and Fostering. Whatever you need on your journey to parenthood, we will do everything we can to ensure you get there.
