CTshipper is a fertility courier company that was established in 2013 by our Managing Director Lukas Beranek following the experience of the parent company GENNET stretching back to 2010 with transport of gametes or embryos.

We are specialised in providing a hand-carry door-to-door transport. That means that one of our embryologists or professionally trained employees travels with a dry shipper container. Dry shipper container is a large Dewar flask that contains a porous material and that is designed for the safe shipment of specimens at liquid nitrogen temperatures without the risk of spilling liquid nitrogen (LN2).

Transport conditions

The key thing in transporting gametes or embryos in a dry shipper is to ensure that the conditions are as close as possible to liquid nitrogen. At this temperature the cell processes almost stops and the cells are able to survive these conditions for many years without any loss of quality.

This is why the dry shipper's inner temperature is measured throughout the transport in regular intervals by a datalogger to ensure that samples are never exposed to higher temperatures and to also ensure a stability of the inner environment.

The environment stability of a dry shipper container is regularly tested and the dataloggers are annually serviced to ensure we provide professional service and to limit any potential issues.

We are very proud to say that as a courier company we have so far transported nearly 4,000 shipments worldwide without a single issue or claim made against us.

X-ray exemption

One of the highest risks with reproductive cells, such as gametes or embryos, is the exposure to X-ray radiation which has got a negative impact on the DNA stability. Considering that one transported cell (sperm/egg) might be the origin to a whole new organism, this risk must be completely eliminated.

Although it is still common around the globe that dry shipper containers are X-rayed when shipped using standard shipping companies, we do minimise or completely eliminate this risk due to two factors.

Firstly, the container with your samples is accompanied by a supervisor (embryologist or professionally trained employee) throughout the transport to ensure that no such situation will happen.

Secondly, based on our licenses for distribution of reproductive material in several countries (UK, USA, Czech Republic) we are able to request X-ray exemptions directly with the airports in advance.

Services

We will always do our best to meet the requirements of our customers or clinics we work with. Since we know the processes of fertility clinics in a few different countries, we are able to assist every customer with necessary information about the transport and what can they expect.

We transport samples in the quarantine, positive or vitrified samples. As every transport is unique for us, we are always here ready to advise on the shipping process as well as help both the dispatching and receiving clinics with any complicated administrative tasks when it comes to shipping reproductive material.

Costs

As every transport is unique and each customer has got different requirements, we are not able to provide a price list, however, each transport will be tailored to your needs. To give you an idea on the costs, transports within London are usually around £200.00 and transports from London to the rest of the Europe are starting at £950.00.
